Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to have Acrylic/Gel nails put on?

The full treatment usually takes around 30–40 minutes. Time can vary by length, shape and any nail art — treat that as a guideline rather than a guaranteed duration.

What different shapes can I have my nails?

We offer many shapes: Oval, Square (sharp or softened), Round, Pointed (Stiletto) and Coffin (semi-hexagon). We’ll help you choose a shape that suits your nails and lifestyle.

What is the difference between white tips and pink & white?

White tips are typically airbrushed or painted onto the tip, whereas pink & white (often called a French or pink-white set) uses white artificial powder applied to the tip for a more sculpted, three-dimensional white tip.

What is the difference between Acrylic and Gel Powder?

Acrylic usually gives a natural pink tone and a matte/solid base, while gel powder (SNS/Poly) gives a clearer finish and works well with white tips. Both are strong and long‑wearing; gel powder typically includes a UV gel topcoat for extra gloss and protection.

What is Gelish?

Gelish is a long‑lasting gel polish applied like regular nail polish but cured under a UV/LED lamp. It gives a shiny, durable finish that lasts longer than regular polish.

Does Gel powder look the same as Acrylic nails?

They can look similar, but gel powder is clearer and is often preferred for crisp white tips and high‑gloss finishes. Acrylic tends to have a pinker tone for a natural look. Both are durable when applied correctly.

Do I need to make an appointment?

Appointments are recommended to guarantee your slot. We do accept walk‑ins when the salon has availability, but booking ahead is the best way to avoid waiting.

How should I look after and care for my nails?

Avoid heavy impact and wear gloves for chores (washing up, gardening). Keep nails moisturised and consider cuticle oil. The better you care for them, the longer they will last.

If my cuticles are in poor condition, what can I do?

Book a manicure — it includes filing, buffing and cuticle work to improve the appearance and health of your cuticles. Regular moisturising and cuticle oil at home also helps.

What should I do when my natural nails start to grow?

When you see natural growth at the nail base, it’s time for an infill or a take‑off and re‑set. We’ll advise the best option based on the condition of your nails.

What are infills and how often are they needed?

Infills are when the grown‑out area at the base of the artificial nail is filled with product rather than removing and redoing the full set. We generally recommend infills every 2–3 weeks depending on nail growth.

What should I do if my artificial nails break?

If a nail breaks, bring it in and we’ll repair it. Charges may apply depending on the work required.

How do I take off Gel powder / Acrylic nails?

We can remove them safely in the salon — please don’t attempt to forcibly remove them at home as this can damage your natural nails.

If I just want a colour change, do I need infills?

Not necessarily. If your set is not due for an infill you can still come in for a repaint/colour change; we’ll advise whether an infill is recommended first.

Can I have Gel Powder or Acrylic on my toenails?

Yes — we can apply gel powder or acrylic to toenails, and you can combine this with a pedicure if you wish.

Can I have false nails if my natural nails are short?

Yes. We can apply nail extensions to add length in most cases. In very rare cases where nails are extremely short or damaged it may not be possible — we’ll assess this for you.

I prefer a pamper without artificial nails — what else do you offer?

We offer natural manicures and pedicures including filing, buffing, cuticle work, dead skin removal and massage with your choice of varnish.

Why does my top coat colour change?

Top coats may stain or alter in appearance after contact with cleaning products, makeup, hand gels, tanning products, henna, food colouring or smoking. They don’t literally change colour but can become stained.
